What is a Postpartum Doula?

  • Assists with newborn care, family adjustment, meal preparation and light household tidying
  • Offers evidence-based information on infant feeding, emotional and physical recovery from birth, infant soothing and coping skills for new parents and makes appropriate referrals when necessary

Postpartum Doula Services:

Each family has unique and individual needs; I provide nurturing, nonjudgmental support to each families needs.

  • FREE interview/consultation session 
  • Continuous physical and emotional support for the family (listening to your birth story, assisting with postpartum recovery)
  • Baby care education and support (e.g. child proofing, bathing, feeding, comforting the baby, cutting baby's nails, organizing the nursery/your home, etc)
  • Breastfeeding or supplementing education support (assist with breastfeeding, pumping, equipment etc.)
  • Techniques for calming and soothing a fussy baby
  • Infant massage (demonstration and support)
  • Basic household assistance (e.g. preparing simple meals, doing laundry, vacuuming, straightening up the house, dusting, wiping down bathrooms, dishes, etc.)
  • Running errands
  • Assistance with providing care of older siblings.  
  • Assistance with photography and/or videotape
  • Referrals to local resources and professionals, as needed
  • Lending library of reading materials
  • Unlimited telephone and email contact
